It recognises photography as a means of powerful communication with its own language, history and impact on contemporary culture.
The course encourages you to develop technical photographic skills as well as engage intellectually in the issues and debates implicit in the medium.
The course provides a series of modules which build as you progress through each year. As well as providing the basics in photographic practice, the course stresses the importance of a thorough theoretical underpinning, both technically and critically. Students can expect to gain understanding and practical skills in photography through seminars and workshops.
The course is creative and ideas-based so students are expected to explore and communicate their own approach to photography through independent, self-directed projects. Study trips constitute an important part of gaining a good understanding of what it means to be a successful contemporary photographer.
Recent visits include New York, Paris and Krakow. Specialists also provide valuable input and are invited to visit the course to offer their expertise. Graduates of the course have gone on to work in forensics, editorial and PR photography, self-employed photographers, studio assistants and many other areas within the photographic industry.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space height=”2em”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
