From the outset, we foster the idea that students are practicing photographers, artists and curators and they are given freedom to initiate their own ideas and follow these through to resolution. An emphasis on ideas and how to express them is central to the course, with extensive personal one-to-one tutorials and small group crits. There are exciting opportunities for exchanges with overseas partner colleges and work placements; these help build the skills and confidence that have influenced the success of the course’s graduates.
Starting with still photography, we go on to introduce the ideas and skills of curation, exhibition work, installation, video/moving image, and sound. This not only allows our students to think across different media but also ensures that, as graduates, they are adaptable and employable in the market place.
Recent graduates taught by this team have gone on to some excellent achievements, including study and research at the Royal College of Art, an internship with Magnum in New York, an Editor of a fashion magazine in Paris and work as photographers and video makers in high profile companies such as Superdry and Renault.
International placements and exchanges with our associated overseas educational institutions will give a global perspective to students work. There are also trips to a number of national and international festivals, including the Liverpool Biennial, Paris Photo, Berlin Transmediale, Chobi Mela in Dhaka.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space height=”2em”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_custom_heading text=”Photography – Editorial and Advertising BA (Hons)” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” google_fonts=”font_family:Open%20Sans%3A300%2C300italic%2Cregular%2Citalic%2C600%2C600italic%2C700%2C700italic%2C800%2C800italic|font_style:600%20bold%20regular%3A600%3Anormal”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1419696855915{border-left-width: 3px !important;background-color: #ecf0f1 !important;border-left-color: #569fd5 !important;border-left-style: solid !important;}”][vc_empty_space height=”0.5em”][vc_column_text]Course Links
